What have you done today to make you feel proud.

Saturday 11th 2006

Woke at hotel at 6.30
Breakfast
Pool for aqua classes and spa
Back to hotel for shower
Hubby picked me up and we went over to Brighton I rode 5k of the 10 of duathlon. Then went to register raked up bike and found out the procedure fore Sunday. Then at 4pm we meet with several online friends and went for a walk, turned out to be a 2hr walk. So much for a rest day. Went out for tea with brother, mother and aunt. Back to hotel in bed by 10.

Sunday March 12th 2006

Had a early wake up call at hotel for 5am up showered, surprised how well I slept.. Did want to go down to dining room in bike shorts etc so dressed in street clothes plan was to change at venue. Went out and loaded car, wouldn’t you know it just starting to rain. Went to breakfast eat a hearty meal, race didn’t start for 2 hrs so thought most of breakfast will be warn off. Left at 6.30 pitch dark. Drove to QE2 park already there was heaps of people. Check out bike set up transition box and marker ribbons (I had a bamboo stake in a bit of 6x4 timber with purple and pink curling ribbons tied to it, very effective as it happens) By now it was pelting down with rain and freezing cold. Changed to bike shorts etc and went to area for briefing. Then some rather lively lads took us for aerobic warm up. Before we knew it was time to start heading to starting line-left in waves of 50 people. Rain had stopped.
Started walking but before leaving grounds rest of my wave were well ahead of me heard next lot starting hooter go and some already passing.
Track around road edge was rough and I was worried about rolling on my ankle, after a while either the road got better or I was less harressed because it didn’t worry me the same…soon we were back in park and travelling around grounds back to bikes and off we go again took a bit to get passed the bulk of bikes before I could get on my bike just as I was about to I could see the lady in front of me loosing control and off she went crash…she looked to have bike clips on her pedals and had her feet caught in them…note to self bike clips are dangerous. Once this we drama was over I was off and for a good while making good time on bike whizzing along have no idea what I was passing or where I was going for that matter I was just going. When I did the test ride on Saturday I rode straight past the gate I was so busy consintrating on the road, thankfully the route was well marshalled could have ended up any where otherwise hehehe. Pleased with bike ride all round. It was the ride that concerned me the most as my childhood history of bikes and roads was not a pleasant one. Dismounted well, hubby was there with video and got a great shoot of me un loaded bike and off on next leg, 1.5k walk starting to wilt but soon got second wind and although I run out of water I didn’t have much room left in my bladder to store any more…came around to finish line and Tash, Shilo and Jimmy were there. Mum and Aunty Phyl got misplaced but I found them soon after finishing.
Hubby had a big grin on his face...think he was proud of me.
I BLOODY KNOW I WAS PROUD OF ME!
Somewhere thru the morning the radio announcer started singing the theme song for the biggest loser program on telly-What have you done today to make you feel proud.

Time 1 hour 39 mins 7 secs stoked with that as had wanted to do it under 2hrs.

So number 864 is a winner.
